To set a reserve quantity for your e-commerce listings, we recommend creating an inventory status called "Ecommerce Reserve". Then, if you receive 100 units of a particular SKU, you can leave 5-10 of them in this status when they are ready to be sold (and when you move the other 90-95 units to your primary "Available To Sell" status).
β
We recommend selecting this Ecommerce Reserve status to sync with just one of your marketplaces. Choose one that has a low likelihood of overselling. This could be because you have not cross-listed the SKU on listings for that marketplace, or simply because the marketplace has a slower sales bandwidth for that product.
The reserve quantity will only be synchronized with that marketplace. For example, if you are selling the "Available To Sell" quantity on Walmart, eBay, and Amazon, but you also have the Ecommerce Reserve status enabled for eBay, the quantities will sync as follows:
Amazon: 90 units
Walmart: 90 units
eBay: 100 units
If you oversell on Amazon or Walmart as your quantity lowers, the reserve quantity can be used to fulfill those oversold orders. However, if there are no oversells, you will eventually end up with just your reserve quantity on eBay.
